A Japanese man saved this 'murder hornet' with a mini- surgery. Ebira Mosura removed a parasite from the Asian giant hornet's stomach. He suspected that it was infected with a parasite, given its 'unusual behavior'. The parasite, a female Strepsiptera, attaches to hosts such as bees, wasps and grasshoppers. It controls its host so it can mate with other Strepsiptera. Mosura later released the hornet and fed the parasite to his pet frog.
